Why am I writing this blog? I got to thinking that my friend Beth has got to be tired of me emailing and calling with random questions about my life and the world. So I thought I would create a blog where I could put my questions out into the universe and perhaps at least one of them could be answered. I am hoping perhaps this could be a forum for anyone that would like to post their most menacing questions and this could be a place where we can help each other; at least a place where we could vent.
So I will start with my first ominous question that has been bothering me lately: What is going on with what I will call lazy fashion? It all started with the Snuggy. Which I will be the first to admit I purchased for my two sons, but mostly as a joke and they hardly pull them out of their closets. Then came pajama jeans, and then Lazy Pants. I particularly liked the latter since it kept your hands and arms free. It also amazes me that the marketers of this product are no longer afraid to keep the term LAZY out of the product; they are actually promoting it to sell more of it. But two days ago I saw an article on MSNBC for jean sweats by joe jeans, he actually put them on his runway. They only run $158 and they are marketing them as “cozy chic”. So it has come to this: being lazy and comfortable has become expensive. It only took a couple years people but now we will be shelling out big bucks to wear sweats and leggings to work!
I find a few things wrong with this picture #1 people should not be wearing this stuff out in public. It is sad that society is going into a direction that wearing blankets and sweats in public is okay. There are people who wear Jeggings out in public. I am so sorry but if you are over 18 or over 100 pounds give them away. Don’t get me wrong. I like leggings, I wear them out but I also cover up my giant butt and dress up with boots etc. But leggings are not lying about what they are either, they are not pretending to be jeans they are just leggings. Also, If you are wearing sweats you better be working out or sick. I said it, now you can start writing in to yell at me.
#2 Why did people have to mess with jeans? For God sakes jeans are made of denim. Not acrylic, not sweat material not anything else DENIM! How can someone charge $158 for sweats that look like jeans? So I will end my post with this. I am hoping someone will tell me what is going on with society that is making it okay to be lazy EVERYWHERE. I say go ahead and where your sweats at home…I am in mine right now! But for some reason things are changing where lazy is starting to eek out into our daily lives and I can’t see that being a good thing. I am all for being comfortable but you can look good while doing it, and it isn’t in sweats. How would anyone take me seriously in jean sweats?
